I. BIOGRAPHY
Toor (born ne' Tooroongian) attended Euphrates College in Harpoot before emmigrating to the West Coast of the United States as a youth. Between 1909 and 1913 he studied in San Francisco at the Institute of Art. During the First World War he was stationed in Dijon, France with the in the U.S. Army's camouflage division. After the war he returned to California and worked in the western United States. He returned to Europe in 1923 to continue his studies and had a studio in Paris for several years.
Toor settled in Altadena, CA in 1936 and lived there for the rest of his life. He died on November 10th, 1966. |
