Sergie Bongart was born in Kiev, Russia. He completed his art training in Prague, Vienna and Munich. In 1948, he immigrated to the United States from a war-torn Russia. A year later, he purchased fellow countryman Nikolai Fechin’s studio in Santa Monica, CA, where he taught drawing and painting there until his death in 1985.
