Sullivan Goss - An American Gallery is excited to announce its second solo exhibition for Nathan Huff. This new exhibition will feature the artist’s signature approach to making images and sculpture – where recurring iconography and evocative visual metaphors suggest a mysterious significance. This particular body of work focuses on the emotional threshold between interior and exterior spaces. Domestic objects and the natural world combine in some instances, while they remain illusively separated in others. This expression can take place within what the artist calls “a cosmic spatial dynamic” or in a combined narrative where the wild and the domestic join in a visual cacophony. There is a poetry in Huff’s work that hints at emotions and ideas that cannot be expressed in the visual vernacular.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Nathan Huff earned an MFA in Drawing and Painting from CSU Long Beach and a BA in art education from Azusa Pacific University. In 2013, he moved to Santa Barbara to accept a position as Assistant Professor of Art at Montecito’s Westmont College where he quickly became known as one of the most exciting young artists in town. Huff’s installations have been featured in solo exhibitions at UCR Culver and Sweeney Galleries (Riverside), Los Angeles at D.E.N. Contemporary (West Hollywood), Minthorne Gallery (Oregon), Gallerie View (Salambo, Tunisa), group exhibitions at JK Gallery (Culver City), Lotus Land (Santa Barbara), Westmont Ridley Tree Museum of Art (Santa Barbara), and the Angels Gate Cultural Center (San Pedro, CA). Nathan has also taught classes at CSU Long Beach, LA Southwest College, Biola University, and Azusa Pacific University as an adjunct lecturer. He has been featured on Huffington Post and in Artillery Magazine. In 2018 Sullivan Goss helped the Santa Barbara Museum of Art acquire Huff’s work for their permanent collection. In 2020, he created a site specific installation for the Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara. His work is currently featured in a faculty exhibition at The Ridley Tree Museum of Art at Westmont College.
